CONDOLENCES TO PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN

The Acting President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a message to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif in connection with numerous human victims of the terrorist attack on the police academy in Quetta.

The President expressed deep condolences to the Government and people of Pakistan and conveyed sincere sympathy to the families of those killed and to injured people.

ACTING PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN, PRIME MINISTER SHAVKAT MIRZIYOYEV VISITED THE REPUBLIC OF KARAKALPAKSTAN AND KHOREZM REGION ON 28 SEPTEMBER 2016

Large scale projects, commenced in the years of independence under the leadership of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, are steadily continuing in the regions. Thanks to huge creative works, the appearance of cities and villages have cardinally transformed, the economic potential has grown significantly, the welfare of the population has increased, and all these achievements can be vividly seen in the example of the northern region of Uzbekistan.

Session of intergovernmental commission

The 12th session of the Uzbek-Turkmen joint commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation has taken place in Tashkent’s international business centre.

The event was attended by heads of the two countries’ ministries and departments responsible for the sphere of external economic relations, trade, industry, oil and gas, energy, agriculture, textile, science and technology, transport and transportation links, customs and culture.

A High-Speed Route

The national rail carrier Uzbekistan Railways has vowed the launch of regular high-speed route Tashkent-Bukhara.

“As of September 15, the high-speed train Afrosiab №762/761 will run between Tashkent and Bukhara daily. The train will depart from the capital at 8.00 am and arrive in Bukhara at 11.47. On its way back, it will depart at 3.21 pm and arrive in Tashkent at 7.10 pm,” reported Uzbekistan Railways.

I would like to begin my speech with the words of deep gratitude to the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization Mr. Ban Ki-moon, all heads of states and governments, who have sent their condolences to the Uzbek people on the occasion of untimely passing of the First President of Independent Uzbekistan Islam Abduganievich Karimov.

Domestic light industry has plans afoot to invest more than $1 billion in the upgrade and establishment of new engineering capacities in the next five years.

FUTURE PRIORITY TASKS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED

The Acting President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the republic’s Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the town of Angren on 20 September 2016 with the goal of familiarization with the pace of socio-economic reforms in localities and large-scale work being carried out in industry and the social sphere.

The leading Japanese newspaper Japan Times has published an article "Uzbekistan - 25 years of dynamic development and prosperity". The author of it was Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Japan Taro Aso.

THE EFFECT OF IMPORT SUBSTITUTION

Mubarek Gas Processing Plant (GPP) is getting prepared to launch a new production of granulated sulfur within the next three months.

The plant will produce up to 80,000 tons of marketable products per year. At the same time, it will concentrate on bringing its products in conformity with international standards, as a significant part of it will be exported. The project’s total cost exceeds $9.4 million.

THE DELEGATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN WILL TAKE PART IN THE 71-TH SESSION OF THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

On 21-25 September, 2016, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov will take part in the General Political Debate at the 71-th Session of the UN General Assembly, which has started its work, reports the press-service of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.
